One Of The Best XO Fish Head Noodle in KL @Goon Wah Restaurant

IT'S WEEKEND!!!!! Ta-dang!! So we decided to grab some nice food and dropped by the famous XO Fish Head Noodle restaurant - Goon Wah Restaurant. Apparently the they are famous for and specializes in their Claypot XO Fish Head Noodle.

From what we understand from the staff there, the shop used to close on weekends for their catering reservations but now they have started to operate on Saturdays as well - which is indeed a good news as not everyone could travel all the way from their respective locations to have their lunch here during the weekdays.

Since there's only the 3 of us who came for the food hunt, we only ordered 3 dishes which is claimed to be pretty famous by the staffs here. The XO Fish Head Noodle is served in portions(per person) which can be classified into 1, 2 and 5 pax serving. The picture shown above is a 2 pax portion which was considerably big and could be shared among approximately 3 pax. I personally think that this dish here tasted much better compared to other famous fish head noodle (Win soon and Woo Pin) except for the fact that the supposedly XO taste is no where to be savour in the dish. The fish head noodles is served together with salted vegetable, fried yam, tomato, fried fish head and etc. The milkish-like soup and the springy noodle is worth a try if you are craving for a decent food. And as for the soup lovers you would be thrilled to find that - the soup here is refillable!!! FOC!!!!

The Claypot Lou Shu Fan here is another signature dish. The lou shu fan is served on a wooden-candlelit-stove and topped with lots of minced meat, dried shrimp, scrambled egg and lard. My friends thought that it actually tasted better than the XO fish head noodles but for me this is not my preference of claypot lou shu fan. Nevertheless it's still worth a try =)

The Stir-fry Pork Maw & Intestine with dried shrimp was cleanly done but the taste was just so-so. Definitely not the best. Do remember to toss it evenly before you eat to get better taste.

The shop is always packed with customers during lunch hours but rest assured that their service here is really fast. Our lunch came up to RM52 for the 3 orders above including drinks. Overall, the shop is pretty clean with quick service and decent food.
